Yesterday when I was out walking in the woods, I saw a man my age (70s) walking down the trail in the opposite direction with his elderly arthritic female black lab. He's someone that I am cautious about engaging with. He had a strange look on his face. He often does. He held up his phone for me to look at but I couldn't really see it. All he said was "Kris Kristofferson." I could heard the song, "Sunday Morning Coming Down," and said, "That's a great song," and kept walking.
Now I understand that he was trying to tell me that Kris Kristofferson had died and I was stunned when I saw your post just now.
"... You know feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee ,,,"
First heard Janis Joplin singing that song by Kris Kristofferson on my car radio the morning the man I loved returned from serving a year in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic. That was on December 8, 1970, close to two months after Janis and JImi Hendrix had died. We had taken LSD cut with speed, provided by his brother, and were on our way to Half Moon Bay to surprise his mother and father and younger siblings. Hearing the first chords of the guitar which reminded me of Bob Dylan and then Janis' voice was an unforgettable high moment followed by many dark hours and years before the man I loved died at age 58 of complications of alcoholism and drug addiction in a VA hospital. We had bonded at age 17 over a love for the music of Bob Dylan.
",,, But my heart is not weary, it’s light and it’s free ..."
Thank you nm.
Will help me make it through the day knowing this will be waiting for later tonight. ✨ Ty
