I had set the above post to play on youtube yesterday, on the anniversary of the release of Planet Waves, 17th January 1974 — I was unable to post the first live version of this song on there though.
The photographs are from one of my copies of Planet Waves. The newer copies of the album don’t seem to have the liner notes that can be seen here —

Recently rediscovered this song thanks to the 1974 Dylan/The Band Sampler put out a few months back. The MSG performance of the song is fantastic. I can only count the number of times I’ve listened to Planet Waves on one hand so it really took me by surprise how good the tune is!
I remember buying the Asylum Version of this record at a very reduced price back in the 80ties. It also had a cutoff corner and was punched with a hole. Does anybody now what that means?
