Bruce Hornsby was a touring member of the Grateful Dead from September 1990 to March 1992—playing over 100 shows with the band.
I am not sure if he had been on stage previously with Bob. Was anyone here at this show in Portsmouth? I can’t seem to find any footage from this show.
His piano playing here sounds really good on All Along the Watchtower I think —and Bob seems to have enjoyed his playing with how he was after the song ends..
I have also set the full recording of the show to play as a broadcast over on YouTube. Thank you to the taper — I don’t have a name — It’s from LB-01021 ‘version j’. Here are the lossless files for the recording —
..and in fact Bruce Hornsby played at one of the Outlaw festival shows just a few days ago!.. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. 21st June, 2025. Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers.

Of course Bob has been playing the song Under the Red Sky at these shows recently.. a song from the album Bruce Hornsby played piano on.
Footage from The Gorge, Washington. 26th May. 25th May, 2025. Recorded by me. — Just before the performance was cut short due to high winds / the speaker stacks and big screens were swaying quite a lot!..
